I bought this album when I was in the 6th grade. At the time I adored it. Listening to it now, it is one of the worst hip hop albums ever made.

“Right Thur” is just plain silly. The lyrics are shallow and Chingy’s vocals are like nails on a chalkboard. “One Call Away” is a mixture of J/Weav’s inability to sing and Chingy being a materialistic asshole. Chingy sounds like an alien in “Holidae Inn”, and I assume that a monkey made the beat for that track. I can’t decipher if there are any words in “Wurrs My Cash”, still can’t figure why Chingy has to create his own language, using his mother-tongue would be fine by me.

Consensus: This album hits anything but the “jackpot.”

Only a few songs don’t cut it. “Complications” has to ‘harsh’ of a baseline for an album like this. “Sometimes Things Get, Whatever” doesn’t seem like it should be in the album, it is very slow and sketchy.

“Slip” is smooth, simple and articulate. “I remember” has a fruitful introduction, and Kaskade did a good job with the vocals, really in sync with the beat. “Brazil (2nd Edit)” has an exceptional baseline, great job with the edit. “Faxing Berlin” is relatively short, but has a highly acquired beat.

Consensus: Maybe the mouse is dead, but Deadmau5′s carrer isn’t.

A puppet for the media, Kanye West is known for receiving (negative) attention. It is ironic that Kanye’s singing is so contradictory to his public image:

I liked how Kanye featured Daft Punk in his album (in his song “Stronger”), an excellent idea, and well executed. Kanye did a phenomenal job with the beats. The album is really interesting to listen too. Several ‘old school’ style beats can be heard, such as the songs “Champion”, “I Wonder” and “The Glory.” On the other hand, “Good Life” and “Drunk And Hot Girls” are quite modern. Very nice outro too, “Big Brother”, really light and personal.

Consensus: Though the media hates him, and The President calls him a “jackass”, this is Kanye’s best album, even for a singer who has made classics.

Grade: A

“Got Money” is a failed experiment. It was obviously set out to be appealing, but failed on many levels. “3 Peat” is too slow and extremely sketchy, don’t know what Lil’ Wayne was trying to do there.

I consider “A Milli” the strongest song of the album. The rhyming is tight and has an interesting beat. “Firefighter” is another decent song, though I favor the beat over the lyrics/vocals.

Consensus: Though it may be more appealing than meaningful, a sincere effort by “Tha Carter.”

I like Kesha’s “I don’t give a fuck” mentality. This shows in her album:

When TiK ToK made it to #1 on iTunes, I was quite surprised. The beat is boring to say the least, although she did a good job vocally, so this is the least flawed song. “Dinosaur” is a failure of Kesha’s part to fabricate Gwen Stefani. “Blah Blah Blah” sounds like nails screeching on a chalk board.

The only song I consider even satisfactory is “Animal”. It is the only song that doesn’t sound like it was sung by an alien.

Consensus: This album is “out of this world”, in a bad way.

I have always been a fan of rapcore. “Hybrid Theory” by Linkin Park came out when I was in the fourth grade, and I idolized it. This, however, I am not a fan of.

This is one of  the most pathetic rapcore albums I have ever listened too. Let’s start with the most flawed song, “Black Dalhia.” The song goes on a tangent, as it is a mixture of punk and rapcore. The lyrics and vocals hurt the ears. “City” is nothing but sound. When I listened to “Bottle and A Gun”, only one word came to mind (OUCH!).

The only decent song on the album is “Undead”, although it is too long (and the guitar riff was fabricated from “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne).

Consensus: I don’t know why these guys have to wear fancy masks, paper bags would be more applicable.

Grade: D

The album is biased, would only appeal a certain age groups (high school girls in particular). The lyrics are quite shallow at times, but at least Swift wrote them herself. The songs are mixed, about half are decent, the rest are terrible. I particularly dislike “Fifteen” as the chorus was fabricated from “100 Years” by Five for Fighting.  “Hey Stephen” has virtually no beat and one could question the vocals.

“You Belong with Me” is a commendable performance at least in vocal terms. “Forever and Always” is very catchy and the lyrics aren’t bad. Other decent songs include “Fearless”, “Breathe” and “Change”.

Consensus: Though it may only apply to certain age groups, still a fine performance by Taylor Swift.

What is the one word that describes Linkin Park? Capitalism.

The band had two decent albums, “Hybrid Theory” and “Meteora”, which was a pleasure to listen too. Then, Linkin Park had to make horrid remixes of these albums. Yet, the biggest mistake was making this piece of trash.

This is unquestionably the weakest of the band’s albums. The lyrics weren’t really thought out. The album sounds nothing like the others, so you might be confused if you’re familiar with the band. The vocals are noting to boast about, but you will favor it over the questionable guitar and drum playing. I will mention the one and only decent song, “Given Up.”

Consensus: The album is a direct representation of music today; shallow and made for profit.
Grade: D

Why is it that the best albums are the least selling? Because the artist spends more time on actually making the album than marketing…

This album is close to flawless. Every track on this album is original in its own right. This is one of the most entertaining albums I have ever listened to, I describe it as 47.5 minutes of pure bliss. I consider “Boyz” and “D0wn River” the best, though every track is worth listening too. I enjoyed how M.I.A. used her knowledge of the Indian culture in the album, references to Bollywood can be heard in several songs, such as “Bamboo Banger.”

Consensus: A near flawless electronic album.

Consensus: Well, at least you can look at a flag for 4 minutes, if you have to watch the dreadful “Party in the U.S.A.” video.
